Several months ago my husband and I met my brothers-in-law and their wives for lunch. Not being certain of where the restaurant was, I opened the map app on my phone and started typing in the name of the restaurant. Before I’d made it through all the letters, I had the location and directions to where I was going. Amazed, my husband pulled out his phone and he too had all the information he would need to get to the restaurant.

In my love/hate relationship with technology, there are definitely moments I love it. Finding directions to the restaurant took far less time than it would have just a few years ago. As I thought about this, it occurred to me that God does not need any technology, no matter how quickly it works. He knows where each of us is at every moment without the aid of anything.

What else does God know about us?

Our identity

Psalm 139.1 You have searched me and known me.

Our activities

Psalm 139.2a You know my sitting down and my rising up.

What we think

Psalm 139.2b You understand my thought afar off.

What motivates us

Psalm 139.3 You comprehend my path and my lying down.

Everything about us

Psalm 139. 3b And are acquainted with all my ways.

What we say

Psalm 139.4 For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

The length of our days

Ps. 139.16 All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Who we would be

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.

Every secret hiding place

Jeremiah 23.24 “Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?” says the LORD, “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

Our future

Jeremiah 29.11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Even the number of hairs on our heads

Matthew 10.30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

God knows everything about us and even knows each of us better than we know ourselves. This can and should fill us with peace. As a loving Father, God wants the best for us. He uses His knowledge about us to draw us into deeper relationship with Him, so that we experience the best He has for us – in this life and the next.

While technology can fail, God never does. He knows right where each of us is every moment of every day. He showers us with His wisdom, blessings, strength, grace, mercy and so much more.
