God is fighting for us,
Pushing back the darkness
Lighting up the Kingdom
That cannot be shaken
In the Name of Jesus,
Enemy’s defeated
And we will shout it out,
Shout it out

These lyrics from Darlene Zschech’s In Jesus’ Name again reminded me of the relationship between light and dark. Light overcomes darkness. Always. Darkness never overcomes light. Darkness only prevails when there is no light or light has been withdrawn. To better understand this concept, think of opening the door of a dark closet. Light from the room always enters the closet. The dark of the closet never comes out into the room.

In the Bible, light and dark are used as analogies for good and evil. Knowing that light overcomes the dark is also a great reminder that good will prevail. God calls us, His children,  to shine His light throughout the world. As we face opposition, persecution, and ridicule, it is encouraging to remember that good, God, will be victorious. In fact, through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has already won! Battles may still be going on, but the war has been won.

Step Out With The Light That Overcomes

I am encouraged to step into the darkness with the light of God’s truth. Why wouldn’t I be when I can have full confidence that His light overcomes.  Just as darkness will never overcome light, so God’s truth will always dispel the lies and evil of the world.

Join me in stepping out in faith to push back the darkness. Follow God’s lead to light up the world using the light of the Kingdom of God. Step out with full confidence that the enemy is already defeated.
